Default Tasting train chugs along featuring Livermore wine

One month of tours on Niles Canyon Railway begins August 5th

SUNOL — The Niles Canyon Railway's Wine Tasting Special train rides will kick off Sunday.
Passengers may begin boarding at the Sunol Depot at 3 p.m. The train departs at 3:30 p.m. Reservations are required for the two-hour trips.

To reserve a spot or for more information, call (925) 862-9063 or go to http://www.ncry.org.

Other Wine Tasting Special train excursions are scheduled for each Sunday throughout the month, continuing at the same times on Aug. 12, 19 and 26.

Livermore Valley area wineries — including Wente, Fenestra and LaRochelle — will be featured each week.

Professional sommelier Sean Andrade will introduce passengers to a variety of fine local wines and gourmet cheeses, and provide some lessons on wine tasting and how to pair wines with various foods.

The Sunol Depot is at 6 Kilkare Road in Sunol.

The cost is $35 per person. Passengers must be 21 or older. Proceeds from the wine tours go toward the preservation of Niles Canyon Railway.
